What a find!!!For years I have searched for a PRACTICAL book, written by people who HAVE BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT - on retailing.
This book does not quote ancient chinese war lords or repeat ideas handed down the ages by irrelevent sources - No! This book tells you EXACTLY what to do and HOW to doe it.
It also comes up with a plan B if plan A is shaky AND a plan C!!!
Brilliantly written (you can almost hear the authors speaking) and so easy to read - I read it cover to cover on the same day it arrived - AND on the next day I started making changes and implementing the little thing I should have done years ago.
Guess what - The changes WORK!!!
It is such a simple formula - (Customers X No of items purchased X Margin = YOUR PROFIT).
If one of those factors drops ( less customers due to recession, or fewer items purchased or if you offer a discount)you have increase the other two factors to maintain or increase your profit.
Brilliant strategy, Brilliant credo: Turnover is Vanity;Profit is Sanity!!
Great read - highly recommended to all in retail (not only shop owners but employees as well).

I read this book on an airplane - flying to a conference where I was to give a presentation to a bunch of retailers whose franchise was starting to look very tired.
During that flight my entire presentation was altered and what I delivered was a version of this book.
The idea behind the theory is crystal clear - in order to survive you must sell at a profit!
It is simple, logical , easy to follow and written in a way that almost talks to you.
I loved it and I endorse it without hesitation
